Remedies For Constipation Relief

Concerning remedies for constipation relief during pregnancy, everyone’s physical body is unique. So one needs to experiment to find what remedy, amount or combination will work best for them. Below is a list of suggestions one can try. Just one note: when blending fresh fruit, one should try using organic so you and your baby are not ingesting pesticide residues from the skin of the fruit.
Remedies For Constipation Relief


  • Increase natural fiber from whole fruits: nectarines,  oranges, tangelos, guava, mango, kiwi, peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, apples, pineapple, pears, cantaloupe, watermelon, avocados …


  • Two or three kiwi first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.


  • Two-to-three ripe bananas (green bananas could have an opposite effect) or dried figs first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.


  • Juices (home remedies):

1.)  Combine ½ fresh apple juice (organic apples in a juicer are best) with ½ prune juice on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and an hour before bed.

2.)  Combination mix of ½ fresh apple juice with fresh pear juice (organic pears/apples in a blender are best) on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and an hour before bed.

3.)  A glass of grapefruit juice first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

4.)  Mix two teaspoons of honey into a glass of warm water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

  • Enemas: water, sodium phosphate, coffee, yogurt


  • Fiber (psyllium husk or seed) supplements: Fybogel, Metamucil, Konsyl, Fiberall, Genfiber or Hydricil to name a few.


  • Fruit Smoothies or Kiwi Crush (New Zealand): Numerous recipes to choose from in concocting your unique formula to taste. A common rule of thumb is ½ a cup each, whether you use a combination of organic yogurt, frozen fruit, fresh fruit, almond milk, soy milk, orange juice or water (experiment to taste).


  • Water: Probably the most important element in eliminating constipation is to maintain a daily intake of pure water. Six to eight glasses throughout the day is considered standard, but check with your doctor. Not only does water help to flush toxins out of your system, but helps to lubricate your intestine in the elimination process.
