Everyone will experience constipation at one time or another.  It’s often painful and uncomfortable. More times than not it is a poor diet that can take the blame.  Many people don’t drink enough water or have enough fiber in there diet.  There are several foods to relieve constipation. By having a balanced healthy diet you can prevent and end your constipation suffering.

Picking foods that relieve constipation is crucial for eliminating constipation. Stay away from foods that will cause constipation such as milk and cheese, sugar, pop and alcohol. I am not saying you can never eat these things, but indulge yourself in moderation.  By eating these foods less you will see many health benefits. Try eating more foods that help relieve constipation like fruits, vegies and whole grains.

Fiber helps keep you solid and regular. It will help you pass your stools easier and keep your colon cleaner.  Keeping your colon clean is super important to your overall health.  It helps keep your weight down as well. There are two different types of fiber, soluble and insoluble and they are both important in preventing constipation. What foods relieve constipation should I add to my diet? Take a look at your dietary fiber intake and try to increase that.  Ideally you should consume 20-25 grams of fiber per day. You must be careful to eat too much fiber.  This can result in bloating and diarrhea, the opposite of what you are looking for.

Do you eat enough fruits? Fruits are one of the best foods to relieve constipation. In addition to all the antioxidants they contain they have the right kind of fiber to relieve constipation.  Eat more fruit everyday. Prunes and prune juice have been a common constipation remedy for many years.  Some things never change.  If you are looking for fast relief from constipation drink some prune juice and it should clear you right out.

Vegetables are foods to relieve constipation.  They give you many other health benefits too. Leafy vegetables like lettuce and spinach give you ht largest fiber content. Some other high fiber vegetables to eat are kale, cabbage and chard.  Your colon will love you for it. Some of my favorite foods to relieve constipation are asparagus, carrots, peas and squash.  Throw in some artichokes and broccoli as well.

One of the top foods for vegetarians is legumes.  These things are super rich in dietary fiber and a super food when it comes to treating constipation. There are many things in this class of vegetable like beans, peas and lentils.  These are all foods to relieve constipation.
